The original would be kept in the library and the copy given back to the owner. MUSIC The Royal Library of Alexandria or The Ancient Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. It was dedicated to the Muses, the nine goddesses of the arts. Alexandria, Egypt was considered the capital of knowledge and learning, because of this great library. The library housed between 40,000 to 400,000 papyrus scrolls. Unfortunately, the library is most famous for having been burned down, which resulted in the loss of many scrolls.
